The cemetery offers single graves, companion plots, family plots and cremains interment and welcomes interfaith family members. Each purchase includes a mandatory perpetual care fee to pay for mowing, spring and fall cleanup and necessary repairs to the cemetery infrastructure (gates, sidewalks, plowing, etc.).

All graves must be marked. Monuments or head or foot markers together with any designs or inscriptions placed on the grave or plot must receive the prior written consent of the Rabbi of Temple Israel. Care and maintenance of the markers is the responsibility of the deceased’s family members.

We are honored to have Bob Gaus, Funeral Director of Millspaugh Camerato Funeral Home in Catskill as our longtime Advisor to the Cemetery Committee. Bob has had over 35 years of helping to plan Jewish funerals. He was honored by Jewish Family Services, Congregation Ahavath Israel and is an honorary member of the Chevra Kadisha of Greater Kingston. He is available to help with preplanning funerals, funeral arrangements, unveilings and memorial services.

Rabbi Zoe B Zak is the spiritual leader of Temple Israel of Catskill. Part of her calling is to be with people who are at end of life, offering support to them as well as to their family members. Her support continues as she helps families and friends through the mourning process. Rabbi Zoe has been a member of the Greater Kingston Chevra Kadisha since 1998 and the V.P. of their Board of Directors since 2017. This organization is devoted to preparing the bodies of those who have passed for Jewish burial. Rabbi Zoe is available to all who need guidance and support during these difficult times.

Temple Israel honors and celebrates the lives of those who have passed:

• On the Sunday between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur we hold a prayer service at the cemetery;

• Our local Scout troop places American flags on the graves of veterans in honor of their service to our country; and,

• Throughout the year the Cemetery Committee vigilantly monitors the grounds to ensure that they are properly maintained.
