Welcome to L'HADLIK where your children will experience and learn Jewish traditions, prayers and Hebrew, presented in a joyful and creative way by Rabbi Zoe B Zak and other talented guest teachers.

L'HADLIK welcomes member and non-member children ages 4 and up. Baruch Ha-Ba! We look forward to welcoming you and your children into our community!

Our Intention (Kavanah) is to:

  • Guide children to see the Torah's lessons expressed in their everyday lives;

  • Engage children in learning through art, music, nature and story telling;

  • Use creative techniques to teach Hebrew, honoring and attending to each child's individual needs;

  • Celebrate and learn the significance of each Jewish holiday, as we flow through the cycle of Jewish time.

We are beginning 2023 with some wonderful news. A $100. Scholarship from the Samara Manger-Weil L’HADLIK Hebrew School Scholarship Fund is being given to every student who enrolls this semester in L’HADLIK Hebrew School at Temple Israel of Catskill. This includes previously enrolled as well as new students. This fund was begun by my dear friend Donna Manger in memory of her beloved daughter Samara of blessed memory. You can read more about this moving tribute and beautiful mitzvah here. When you send in your check this semester to register, just deduct $100. from what you planned to pay. As a reminder, the tuition is $180. For those of you with more than one child in our Hebrew school, there is a 10% discount for each additional child.

Hildi Kaufmann & I look forward to a wonderful semester with your children and family. As always, be in touch any time for any reason.
If anyone would like to contribute to this fund, you can donate here.

Thank you to everyone who has made this possible. You are all Mitzvah mavens and I’m so grateful to each and everyone of you
Only blessings,

“A few years ago, my daughter and a few other small children were playing in the classroom during a solemn prayer service. Rabbi Zoe stopped, and instead of a “sheket b’vakasha” (quiet please), she remarked that there is no better sound in the world then children playing. At that moment, I knew unequivocally that Temple Israel of Catskill was the place for my family to continue our Jewish journey.”
